Sorry for not updating this in a while. I was distracted with a lot of stuff over the summer and have been very busy with school lately. Currently, I’m finishing learning Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit. I’ve began to work on the nuances of Scarbo and am currently finishing learning the notes of Le Gibet. I’m also going to resume learning Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 3, which I briefly left so I could focus more on Ravel.
Since my last blog entry, I participated in both the International Piano-e-Competition and the International Keyboard Institute and Festival. The Piano-e-Competition, in Minneapolis, and while I did not advance past the first live round, it was a great experience. I got a lot of really useful feedback that I am incorporating into the preparation of my new repertoire, and some of my old repertoire is also getting alterations. As for the IKIF, it took place a few weeks after the Piano-e-Competition in New York City, and it was also a wonderful opportunity for me to get feedback on my playing. I took master classes with Alexander Kobrin, Mykola Suk, Alexander Braginsky, and Eduard Zilberkant, all of whom gave me very pertinent information that should help me in the future.
My next competition is the MTNA Texas competition in early November, so I’ll be sure to update this blog again as that approaches. As always, thanks for reading and come back soon for another blog entry.
