It’s been a really busy past few weeks. I thought I posted another update two weeks ago, but it apparently didn’t go live. So here’s a recap of the past month. I was a winner of the local TMTA competition, meaning I advance to the semi-final round at the TMTA convention in June. I also won the Sonata division at the Dallas Symphonic festival after playing Mozart Sonata in D Major, K. 576. Then I had two weeks to prepare for the MTNA National Finals (in New York). I played very well at the Nationals, but I didn’t end up placing. It’s too bad I didn’t place, but I had probably my best performance ever of an extended program, which sort of made up for not placing (although, obviously, not completely). I don’t have much on the horizon as of now, but I’m going to keep working on my new repertoire, including Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz, the Devil’s Staircase (of the Ligeti Etudes), Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 3, and polishing the final two parts of Gaspard de la Nuit. I’ll update this blog as soon as I have other things to write about, so stay tuned!
